4th of July is a special holiday for many Americans. The colors red, white, and blue are often used to decorate for this holiday. Nail art is a popular way to show holiday spirit.
Fun fact: my birthday is on the 4th of July! So for me, this nail art also doubles as birthday nail art.
Some cute ideas for your 4th of July nail art are using the statue of Liberty, the American Flag,… or getting real creative with some firework nail art.

Statue of Liberty nail art
Yup, you’ve read that right: statue of Liberty nail art. I’m not entirely sure how this became a thing, but it’s definitely a fun way to show your patriotism.
I have used my DIY nail decals to make this nail art (you’ll find the image on Canva) on a white color base.
American Flag nail art
This is a super easy way to do your nails for the 4th of July. All you need is red, white, and blue nail polish and some scotch tape. Once you have those supplies, paint your nails in any order with the colors. I like to do every other nail so that it’s not too matchy-matchy.
Don’t like to make the nail art yourself (I get it, I can’t do detailed nail art…)? Make some nail decals or buy them online. It’s so much easier and quicker. You can find a ton of 4th of July nail art images on Canva that you can use.
Firework Nail Art
This is one of my favorite ways to do nails for the 4th of July. It’s super festive and fun without being too in your face about it. I like to use a black color or a white color as a base. This makes the other colors you put on top, way more vibrant.
I have a video tutorial on how to do this firework nail art on my Youtube channel (and other nail art for Independence day/ The 4th of July). If you want to know how to make the nail art in this article, just follow the steps in the video. Those are mini-tutorials.
You can also use nail stickers or nail decals to make the firework on your nails. It’s often the favorite part of a 4th of July celebration, the fireworks… so why not enjoy them on your nails as well?
Red, blue and white nail art
This is a very simple way to show your patriotism with some cute nail art. You can use any red, blue or white nail polish you have. I like to use a blue color as a base and then put some stars with a white color on top.
Just make sure the colors are opaque enough. You want to make as less layers as possible, otherwise, your nail art will become very bulky.
Another way to do this, is by using a white color as the base and then adding some red and blue stripes on top. You can use a striper brush or even a toothpick or nail art brush to make the stripes.
And there you have it: 4th of July nail art! I hope you enjoyed this post and that you found some inspiration for your own nails. Let me know down in the comments which one is your favorite!

There are many ways to create patriotic nails. Here are some tips for creating 4th of July nail art:
-Start with a clean canvas. Make sure your nails are free of any polish or debris.
-If you’re starting with bare nails, apply a base coat to help your manicure last longer.
-Next, paint your nails with a red, white, or blue polish. You can also use glitter or shimmer polish to add some extra sparkle.
-Once the base color is dry, it’s time to start adding the details. Use a white polish to create stars or stripes. You can also use dotting tools or a toothpick to add smaller details.
-Finish off your nails with a top coat to seal in your design.

Most of the nail decals for the 4th of July, I’ve applied on top of white nail polish. Apply 2-3 coats of white nail polish, you really want this to be opaque. The best white nail polishes to try are: Sinful Colors Snow me White, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Whirlwind White and Wet n Wild Megalast I need a Refresh-Mint. Let your white nail polish dry completely before applying the decals.
